Throughout the store are hand-crafted furniture pieces by Michael Crowley, of The Colonial Woodwrights. Established in 1984, the Crowley's have worked with wood to create thousands of pieces of quality furniture and accessories made in the tradition of years past. Each piece is crafted by Michael with carefully chosen wood. He uses traditional methods of joinery and special finishing tecniques that take 7 to 12 steps to get the desired look— sanding, painting and hand-rubbing that create his hallmark finishes.
Michael's goal is to craft pieces that incorporate traditional styles and design, but are functional in today’s homes. We have lamps, mirrors, shelves and always a variety of furniture pieces that you are sure to love. You can also appreciate the fact that The Colonial Woodwrights has always used US grown wood from sustainable forests and certified mills, as well as reclaimed wood from old buildings and structures. The water-based paints and cotton-based lacquer top coats are environmentally friendly — approved by the strictest of EPA standards.
So, come in and take a look...every room has something that Michael made. Each piece of furniture is as unique as you are. One-of-a-kind and crafted with care! And in today’s global market, it’s nice to know you can still have something hand made (in Mariposa, California) at prices that are affordable. Follow their blog at Colonial Woodwrights.
